The Rising Cases of Online Frauds in Malaysia


Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar noted that 148 phone scams this year resulted in RM5.88 million in losses.

In a recent case, two Malaysians fell victim to the contraband parcel scam in one day, losing a combined RM394,000. A 32-year-old self-employed individual was duped into transferring RM234,000 in 15 transactions after receiving calls from scammers posing as a Pos Malaysia staff and a police officer. Additionally, a 30-year-old public servant also lost RM160,000 to the same scheme. To avoid becoming a victim, the public is urged to verify information through official channels and make direct calls to Pos Malaysia.
